Project Wing Deck
Brief:
Design and build a composite Moth wing that supports the structural loads of the sailor and boat, while optimizing the wing's “surface area” for aerodynamics and sailor maneuverability. Integrate internal cavities into the wings for control line systems (used by sailors to make adjustments). Keep weight to minimum.
Capabilities used:
► Inhouse design team - composite designer, composite engineer
► Inhouse CNC machine - 7 pieces of foam production machined and built to within 0.1mm accuracy.
► Material - Pre-preg carbon fibre with added patches for reinforcement.
► Production team - fearing surfaces with no room for any deviation.
► Assembling team – interconnecting intricate parts.

Project Wing Beam
Brief:
Design and build the outer wing beam that supports the wing, using prepreg carbon. The hallow beam shaped aerodynamically and curved in all four directions. Any stress areas to have localized reinforcement.
Capabilities used:
► Inhouse design team – composite designer, composite engineer
► Material - Pre-preg carbon fibre with added patches for reinforcement.
► Production team - fearing surfaces with no room for any deviation.
► Assembling team – interconnecting parts.
